About the viewer

The Property map comprises of the participating Waikato Councils Property Boundary spatial data merged in to a single layer covering all the participating councils.

The data was sourced from the 6 Local Authority Councils by using the existing Waikato Data Portal as the main data source.

Other related data includes Land Drains, Parks & Reserves, LINZ Land Parcel, LINZ Address, and Stats NZ Demographics.

Layers

Summary:

A Waikato Regional Council (WRC) version of property boundaries for the Waikato region. It combines legal land parcel (LINZ) and District Valuation Roll (DVR) data sourced from the Territorial Authorities (TA) where the properties lie within the WRC boundary. The join is based on the valuation id, the legal parcel boundaries are aggregated to reflect the boundary for each property.

This layer holds a selection of attributes from the WRC property layer for use via Arc GIS Online (AGOL). Holes in the property layer can occur, generally during subdivision activity when a legal land parcel to valuation id match cannot be achieved. These are resolved in due course as the DVR data is received from the relevant TA. Updates are frequently made to the underlying data. Data will be refreshed weekly in AGOL.

The Local Government Rating Act (2002) limits public access to name and postal address information that Council holds for rating purposes. Therefore, ratepayer name and postal address information has not been made available for download. Waikato OneView does not make any representation or give any warranty as to the accuracy or exhaustiveness of the rateable property data provided. Summary: Parks and Reserves polygon assets.

This Parks and Reserves dataset contains polygon assets such as parks and reserves.

The GIS dataset is synchronised with asset data contained in Council’s Asset Management system.

New information is entered by surveyed coordinates where these are available. Unsurveyed or historic assets were entered using dimensions from boundaries and/or existing assets. Unsurveyed and historic assets may have an accuracy in the order of +/- 10m, although it is hoped that it would generally be better than this.

Waikato OneView does not make any representation or give any warranty as to the accuracy or exhaustiveness of the data released for public download. Locations and dimensions of assets depicted in the data may not be accurate due to circumstances not notified to Council.

While you are free to crop, export and re-purpose the data, we ask that you attribute the Waikato OneView and clearly state that your work is a derivative and not the authoritative data source.

Summary:

This layer provides the current primary parcel polygons and some associated descriptive data that details the appellation (legal description), purpose, size and a list of titles that have an interest in the parcel.

A primary parcel is a portion of land that is intended to be :
• owned by the Crown, except moveable marginal strips
• Held in fee simple ((predominately private ownership)
• Maori freehold land or Maori customary land
• Public foreshore and seabed
• The bed of a lake or river
• Road or Railway
• Vested in a local authority

Summary:

This dataset provides current outlines of buildings within mainland New Zealand captured from the latest aerial imagery.

A building outline is a 2D representation of the roof outline of a building which has been classified from LINZ aerial imagery using a combination of automated and manual processes to extract and refine a building roof outline.

Building outlines observed in aerial imagery larger than or equal to 10 square meters are captured in this dataset, and may include structures such as garages and large sheds.

Data vintage

This dataset shows the most recent set of building outlines extracted from the LINZ aerial imagery available on the LINZ Data Service.

Current coverage includes nearly all regions of New Zealand, except parts of rural Auckland, remote parts of Bay of Plenty, Tasman and the Southern Alps, as well as Fiordland, Stewart Island and the Chatham Islands. This dataset will be updated and expanded as new aerial imagery becomes available.

Since aerial imagery is flown only every few years in each region of the country, building outlines only reflect those buildings observed at the date of this aerial imagery capture, and may not reflect buildings constructed after this time period.

Please refer to the NZ Building Outlines Data Dictionary for detailed metadata and information about this dataset.

Summary: This dataset provides all allocated addresses as advised to LINZ by Territorial Authorities (TAs). Under the Local Government Act 1974 (section 319) it is the responsibility of the TAs to advise LINZ (the Surveyor General) of all allocated addresses in their district. See below for details.

This dataset contains the core components of an address to support simple searching or use of this data to provide context. This dataset has been sourced from LINZ’s Address Information Management System (AIMS), a centralised database for the management of national addresses, including for electoral purposes.

Please refer to the Street Address Data Dictionary for detailed metadata and information about this dataset.

For a comprehensive group of address tables see AIMS: Street Address.

Summary: This dataset provides linear geometries against which official road names and street addresses can be recorded. Its purpose is also to enable automated meshblock address reports (for electoral and statistical purposes) so as to identify the presence of a road name in meshblocks where street addresses do not exist.

For this dataset (as opposed to the NZ Roads Subsections (Addressing) dataset, individual road section geometries have been aggregated to a single road centreline geometry where those subsections share the same name, and are generally contiguous. Because some roads have multiple names for part of their lengths, some road centreline geometries will duplicate parts of other roads even though there is in reality only one road formation. This dataset has been simplified from LINZ’s NZ Roads dataset, a centralised database for the management of national road data. The comprehensive set of NZ Roads tables is also available.

These road centrelines do not represent actual road formation, nor do they represent legal access. They must not be considered as topographic, cadastral, or legal.

This dataset contains the core attributes of a road to support simple searching or provide a road name context for cadastral data views. Please refer to the NZ Roads Data Dictionary for detailed metadata and information about this dataset.
